Although it seems to be only a simple feature, it means users no longer have to leave the app to use one of the many third-party apps that offered a way around. The Layout feature allows users to upload up to six photos in a number of different grid styles. Once users have chosen their photos, they will still be able to add filters. At this stage, users will only be able to add photos to the segments, as videos aren’t yet valid for the layout functionality.

The new feature was first spotted in August along with some other features which are yet to be released. The other features included new modes for Boomerang, new icons for modes and comment sharing. With the layout feature also included in the article, it won’t be much longer until we see some more new features released.
Instagram has been adding a number of features to Instagram Stories following the rise in popularity of the app, TikTok. Last month, the social media giant added another feature to Instagram Stories – Reels. The feature allows users to create short videos which can be shared and remixed – like you can do on TikTok. Unlike the new Layout feature which has been released worldwide, Reels is currently only available in Brazil.
Instagram Stories has become an important and popular part of the app. As TikTok has grown in popularity and with Snapchat now more popular than ever before, Instagram has to continually look at improving its app to ensure it’s better. Although many of the new features resemble features of Instagram’s rivals, users don’t seem to mind and daily active users on Instagram Stories continue to increase.
