What is Google Ads?

Google Ads (formerly known as Google AdWords) is the application used for paid marketing on Google’s platforms.

Our primary use for it is to do PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising for our clients. At the moment we are mainly focused on search marketing campaigns. These are the ads that show on the top and bottom of a Google search page.

Whilst Google Ads is not the only platform for paid online marketing, it is certainly the most popular one. It far outranks its nearest rival Bing Ads in terms of advertising spend.

Our team of digital marketers have over 2 years of experience working on this platform. Over this time we have witnessed various changes being made to it. The ads have expanded, ad extensions were added, the interface has completely changed, and recently it was rebranded from Google AdWords to Google Ads.

By using Google Ads, there is no need to wait for your new site to work its way up the rankings organically as you can see immediate results. This can potentially help companies who aren’t generating enough leads or enquiries from organic searches. By using Google Ads initially could also in turn, help your business improve your SEO rankings as you will then know what users are searching for and what will create a higher impact. Google Ads can be used to target people who are further down the sales funnel that you may have not been able to reach organically.

When managed properly, it allows for greater control of what you show when people search for your business or services you provide.

Within reason, you can have what you like in the ads, anything from any special offers or seasonal discounts to reasons why a potential customer should choose your business over one of your competitors.

Your account can also be optimised, with adjustments being made based on various targeting criteria. These involve time, location, demographics, device, and keywords.

If you would like to start advertising on Google Ads, or are not having much luck with your current account, talk to our experts and find out how we can help you.
