Finally, some good news for Facebook Pages. With recent algorithm changes reducing the organic reach of Pages on the social media site, Facebook is now allowing Pages to join Facebook Groups. They will also be able to comment and interact with communities as a normal member.
The new update was shared on Twitter by Matt Navarra:

Previously, only personal profiles could join Groups. The new update will allow Pages to build their brand with communities that matter to them. Pages will also be likely to see an increase in Page “likes” as other members will easily be able to navigate to the Page from the group. This will also stop the number of friend requests and private messages from group members to Page owners who were forced to use their personal profile.
A Facebook spokesman told Social Media Today:
“We’ve heard from people that engaging with public figures, non-profits, publishers, and businesses in a more intimate setting can be meaningful.
We previously launched the ability for Pages to start Facebook Groups so that they can engage with their communities. We are now testing the ability for Pages to join existing Facebook Groups as well.”
The feature is active for all Facebook Groups unless an admin chooses to not allow Pages to join. However, it is currently only available for a test pool of Pages.
Just like a normal member, group admins will also be allowed to ban Pages from their groups. This will allow admins to reduce spam and to stop any abuse from users hiding behind a Page.
The new feature is another update that Facebook has made to their Groups feature. Last year, Facebook allowed Pages to create their Groups and interact with members as their Page. More recently, the social media giant announced a subscription plan for Groups that allowed some to charge their members for access.
